Find the Value of US Silver Coins

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Coin investors everywhere know that finding the value of a particular coin isn’t always easy. To put a value on rare coins, you need to know a lot about numismatics, the study of coins, so that you can correctly categorize each coin. When you’re looking for the value of US silver coins, there are several different places that you can go for answers.

First off, a coin dealer who has lots of experience will probably be able to give you a good estimate as to the coin’s prices. Dealers who have been in the business for a while are considered professional numismatics, and they’ll be able to look at things like the condition of the coin, the year, and the mintmark to see if it falls into any of the rarest coin categories. Be sure, though, that when you talk to a dealer, you get all the information you can and you make an effort to find out whether or not the dealer will give your coin plenty of time.

You can also find information about the prices of different coins in books. The Red Book is a coin collector’s bible, and one is published each year with the value of different US silver coins and other collectible coins. The Red Book will help you look for the right markers on your coin, although only professional numismatics or very knowledgeable amateurs will be able to judge the coin’s fineness and condition. Overall, your best approach might be to check out the book first and then to go to a dealer once you have an idea about the price range of a particular coin.

Home Business Registration

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

There are such a lot of valuable lessons to learn in life. This year I am celebrating my 30 year high school class reunion and I am finding that I will still learn new things. My hubby recommended that I look into starting a home enterprise.

After many months of analysis I made up my mind to sign up as a dealer for a major environmental company. I liked their products and the support from other entrepreneurs was amazing.

I had so much to learn it seemed like every day there had been another thing to consider. After we decided to become dealers we wished to get the word out that we had this business. We had to settle on a name so we could get cards and letterhead released.

We came up with our name and had cards made. I called a chum of ours who is a CPA and asked him some tax questions.

He asked me if I had done a firm name registration. I told him that I didn’t know what that was. He announced I should go to the official web site for our state and do a company name registration. By doing this no-one else could pick the same name we probably did for their company.

This will confuse clients and we could lose business. The registration can be done online on the state’s web site and there’s not cost. I took the CPA’s recommendation and went on the site and registered. No-one else had the name so we are official. I will not believe the numerous things that I am learning I had never thought about in my previous life. This has been an excellent opportunity for me and my folks. I am so glad that I took the danger to learn something new.
